Bronze Figures of Bast
Bronze figures of the ancient Egyptian mythical goddess Bast from the specimens in the British Museum. Bast or also known as Bubastis is represented with the head of a lioness or a cat. On her head she bears a disk, from which rises the uraeus or royal asp. Sometimes she is represented by holding a sistrum in her right hand and in her left the head of a lion surmounted by a disk and asp. For figures of her from later date she is also represented with a basket on her hand.
