| Bronze figures of the ancient Egyptian mythical goddess Bast from the specimens in the British Museum. Bast or also known as Bubastis is represented with the head of a lioness or a cat. On her head she bears a disk, from which rises the uraeus or royal asp. Sometimes she is represented by holding a sistrum in her right hand and in her left the head of a lion surmounted by a disk and asp. For figures of her from later date she is also represented with a basket on her hand. | |
