Chorazin in
Smiths Bible Dictionary. one of the cities in which our Lord's mighty works were
done, but named only in his denunciation. Matt. 11:21; Luke 10:13 St. Jerome
describes it as on the shore of the lake, two miles from Capernaum, but its
modern site is uncertain.

Khirbet. Kerazeh. A Jewish town in Upper Galilee, 3 miles N of Capernaum. It was
reproached by Jesus along with Bethsaida and Capernaum:
Matt 11:20-24 "Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty
works had been done, because they did not repent: "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to
you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in
Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I
say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment
than for you. And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought
down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in
Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say to you that it shall be
more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you."
In Jewish literature it was connected with the supply of grain used in Temple
rituals. The synagogue of Chorazin was discovered and excavated. It was of the
Galilean style located in the center of town. It was 70 feet x 50 feet and made
of black basalt and the walls are fairly well preserved. There was also a basalt
throne found which was "the throne of Moses" which was used during the reading
of the Torah. The three main entrances faced Jerusalem.
