ez-Zib. Greek name of Achzib. City of the tribe of Asher (Josh 19:29; Judg 1:31) on the Mediterranean coast 11 miles N of Acco (Acre). It was originally a Canaanite city and it was spared from captivity during the conquests of Joshua. The men of Asher settled among its inhabitants. Remains of fortifications and city walls have been discovered there dating from B.C. Many Phoenician tombs with pottery, figurines, ivory and jewelry have been excavated there as well.
