Mount Gilboa

Jebel Fuqu'ah. Gilboa was a mountain range SE of the Jezreel Valley, with its highest peaks rising 1629 feet above sea level. King Saul committed suicide here in his last battle against the Philistines who had defeated the Israelites (I Sam 28:4 ff; 31:1-6; II Sam 1:6-10). But David heard about this disaster and cursed the mountains of Gilboa (II Sam 1:21).
