Gilead was:
A Region
Genesis 31:23 -
And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey;
and they overtook him in the mount Gilead.
Genesis 31:25 -
Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and
Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead.
The trans-Jordan tribes settled there
Numbers 32:39 -
And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and
dispossessed the Amorite which [was] in it.
Deuteronomy 3:12 -
And this land, [which] we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which [is] by the
river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the
Reubenites and to the Gadites.
Deuteronomy 3:13 -
And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, [being] the kingdom of Og, gave I unto
the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was
called the land of giants.
Deuteronomy 3:15 -
And I gave Gilead unto Machir.
Joshua 12:2 -
Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, [and] ruled from Aroer, which
[is] upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and
from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, [which is] the border of the
children of Ammon;
Joshua 12:5 -
And reigned in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border
of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon
king of Heshbon.
Joshua 17:1 -
There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he [was] the firstborn of
Joseph; [to wit], for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead:
because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.

The home country of Jephthah
Judges 11:1-12 -
Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he [was] the son of
an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah. And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and his
wife's sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt
not inherit in our father's house; for thou [art] the son of a strange woman.
Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there
were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him. And it came to pass
in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel. And it
was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of
Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob: And they said unto
Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.
And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me
out of my father's house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in
distress? And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore we turn again
to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight against the children of
Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead. And Jephthah said
unto the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight against the
children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?
And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, The LORD be witness between us, if
we do not so according to thy words. Then Jephthah went with the elders of
Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered
all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh. And Jephthah sent messengers unto the
king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou
art come against me to fight in my land?
Judges 20:1 -
Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was gathered
together as one man, from Dan even to Beersheba, with the land of Gilead, unto
the LORD in Mizpeh.
2 Samuel 2:9 -
And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and
over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.

not turn away [the punishment] thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with
threshing instruments of iron:

took Ijon, and Abelbethmaachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead,

Obadiah 1:19 - And [they of] the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and [they of] the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin [shall possess] Gilead.
Joshua 22:32 - And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.
Deuteronomy 3:10 - All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

Joshua 20:8 - And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
