Bible Verses about Messianic Prophecy

Isaiah 42:2-3 He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench; he will bring forth justice for truth.

Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; he was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.

Matt 26:62-63 And the high priest arose and said to Him, "Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?" But Jesus kept silent....

Key Points:

- The Servant Messiah would be humble and meek and it is clear that He is an individual rather than the nation of Israel as a whole.

- He will not be a bragger or a show-off, but on the contrary He will be quiet and gentle.

- He will not use loud and angry arguments to win hearts.

- He would be careful not to bruise anything fragile or weak, such as any broken-hearted souls or weak believers, or anyone that has been crushed by sin or calamity.

- The "smoking flax" speaks of something that is just about to go out, like the expiring wick of an oil lamp. By giving His Words of life and true religion He will cause the dying flame to be re-fueled and lit again to burn brightly.

- The Servant Messiah would not be condemning in His tone of voice. He would always encourage and lift up the weak and feeble sinner.

- The words 'justice for truth' here speaks of the true religion; and laws that God had originally laid down. The Messiah would speak Gods true intentions within His law.
