Autobiography

Life of Josephus

[in Loeb Classical Library: Josephus vol. 1. Ed. H. St. J. Thackeray. New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1926].

An appendix to the second edition of Jewish Antiquities, published after the death of Agrippa II [variously dated 93 or 100 CE]. It was written primarily as a self-defense against the charge of a rival Galilean historian [Justus of Tiberias] who charged that Josephus was personally responsible for the revolt of Tiberias [67 CE].
