The Sixth Woe (Woe to You Scribes and Pharisees)

bar1.gif

The sixth woe was a vial of wrath, poured out on Pharisaic externalism, rapacity, and incontinence. These masked play-actors habitually cleansed the outside of the cup and dish in which the food and drinks were served, and both cup and dish were full of things gained by plunder and purchased by the wages of unrighteousness. This greediness was practiced in the name of religion and under the mask of piety. Blind Pharisee, cleanse the moral inside of the cup and dish first, that the ceremonial outside may be clean.
