Brief Summary: God established the Sabbath day. The LORD creates man and woman, and places them in the Garden of Eden. They are commanded to eat freely but not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Detailed Summary: God (Elohim) ended His work and rested on the seventh day. He established the seventh day by blessing it and sanctifying it. Then in verse 4 the focus shifts to the LORD (Jehovah), the personal name of God and He is seen as creator and He forms man from the dust and gives him the breath of life. The LORD also planted the Garden of Eden with the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and He commanded Adam not to eat from this tree or else he would die. The LORD then created woman from Adam's side and Adam called her woman. They were both naked and not ashamed.
Who is Mentioned: God, Adam, and Eve.
Key Concept: God created man for love and fellowship (Genesis 2:7)
Key Verse: Genesis 2:7, And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Interesting Notes:
According to Heb 4
the Church age is the Sabbath rest and the believer in Jesus
ceases from his works and rests in God's redemption in Christ.
Eve, a type of the Church,
the Bride of Christ, was not formed
of dust, but came from the first son of God's opened side. The
Church was born from the opened side of the Second Son of God,
Jesus.
In the Hebrew the word for
man is ish and woman is ishah
Eden in Hebrew means
paradise
The mist mentioned in Genesis
2:6 could be confirmation that there was no rain until after the
flood.
Adam was commanded not to eat
from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil before Eve was
created.
Adam was told that in the day
he eats of it he would surely die. It meant spiritual death
because his physical body died at 930 years old.
Elohim is the name of God
used in Genesis 1:1-2:3 and then the LORD (Jehovah) is used as
His personal redemptive name.
The Garden of Eden cannot be
determined but it was somewhere in the Tigris-Euphrates region
on the east end of the fertile crescent.
Archaeology and science confirms
that the earliest traces of civilization migrated from the
Persian Gulf region.
