City Adam Tel ed-Damiyeh. A city on the Jordan River beside Zarethan mentioned in the Bible in Josh 3:16 with the parting of the Jordan. It is also mentioned in and Hosea 6:7. The city has been identified by many with Tel ed-Damiyeh on the western bank of the river, just below the mouth of the Jabbok and about 18 miles north of Jericho.

Joshua 3:16 - That the waters which came down from above stood [and] rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that [is] beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, [even] the salt sea, failed, [and] were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
Hosea 6:7 - But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

ADAM, CITY OF

('adham, "red" or BDB "made"): A city in the middle of the Jordan valley near ZARETHAN (Josh 3:16), which see. The name probably survives at the Damieh Ford, near the mouth of the Jabbok twenty miles above Jericho. An Arabian historian asserts that about 1265 AD the Jordan was here blocked by a land slide. The inner gorge of the Jordan is here narrow with high banks which would facilitate such an obstruction as permitted the waters to "pile up" above to Adam and run out below, permitting Joshua's host to cross on dry land.www.free-bible.com/isbe/A/ADAM,+CITY+OF/

The City of Adam stood "beside Zarethan" (Joshua 3:16) on the east bank of the Jordan, it is called also "Damia".
