John 2:9-10 - When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: [but] thou hast kept the good wine until now. .
The bridegroom is the man who decides to get married and finds a bride. First they are betrothed and after several months they get married. The bridegroom comes to the brides father's house in an elaborate ceremony at nighttime. He then escorts is bride to his house marching through the streets with singing and dancing and musical instruments. They have a wonderful wedding feast with all of their friends and guests and after seven days they consummate their marriage under the "chupah" or marriage canopy.
Jesus said that he is the bridegroom and his church are is bride, the people of God. until he returns to set up his kingdom on earth he is calling everyone into a marriage relationship, the bridegroom and his bride. The Bible reveals God's love for his bride endures eternally and he will never leave her nor forsake her.
BRIDEGROOM
A man who has recently been married or is about to be married.
The term is applied symbolically to the MESSIAH.
John the Baptist called Jesus the "bridegroom" (Jn 3:29).
Jesus referred to Himself as the "bridegroom" (Mt. 9:15).
Jesus' bride, of course, is the church-- those who are spiritually united with
Him by faith.
