Description

"The adoption of an urban Sumerian-type civilization led the Susians to create art forms that were later to become classical. Breaking with the purely decorative stylization of the pre-historic periods, they adopted realism as a new ideal. It was thus that the small statues of devotees, both delicate and full of humor, kneeling in their gown according to the tradition proper to the Iranian world." - Louvre
