""The stela of Mesha, discovered in 1868 then brought back by Clermmont-Ganneau in 1873, carries an inscription of thirty-four lines in moabite, a script close to ancient phoenician. The text commemorates the defeat inflicted on the kingdom of Israel after the death of Achab, shortly before 842 BC. The stela was erected at Dib�n, capital of Moab, par Mesha, son of Kamoshyat, King of Moab." - Louvre " - Louvre
